ITNESS
Keeping
fit is an essential part of Dance. Students of dance must regularly complete
appropriate exercises, so that they can perform the movements without straining
muscles or over-extending themselves.
It is advisable to
warm up before the performance, lesson or class for at least 15-20 minutes,
with a suitable warm-down period afterwards.
Exercises and training
are necessary to build stamina and fitness. They should be specific to
your level of dance and appropriate to the particular type of movements
you are performing. I incorporate the exercises and training you need
in my master classes and workshops.
IET
It is essential to look after yourself, to eat correctly and to have a
balanced diet. Dance requires high levels of energy, so you must eat well
and correctly, with sufficient amounts of protein and carbohydrates. Rest
is just as important as exercising and training: if you don¹t have
sufficient
time to recover, your energy level will not be high enough - and you will
also be more prone to injury. Rest and nutrition are important factors
in prevention of Injuries.
